Prabhas’ Spirit moves to Diwali 2027, sets up Ramayana 2 clash

Prabhas-led cop drama Spirit is moving out of Eid 2027. The film had earlier been positioned for the Eid window, but the makers have now locked a fresh date: October 29, 2027, during Diwali.

The announcement arrived with a new poster. Prabhas appears in a full-grown beard, with a cap pulled over goggles, and the new date is stamped right on the visual.

From a Monster miss to a Ramayana face-off

The shift means Spirit avoids a collision with Salman Khan’s Monster. But it walks straight into another big screen battle: the Diwali frame now puts it against Ramayana Part Two, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.

For the Indian box office, Diwali is a prime corridor. A long festive weekend can support a giant opener, but two simultaneous event films often force exhibitors to split screens and marketing spend. That is why teams frequently adjust dates to clear a window.

Who is fronting Spirit

Spirit is an action-heavy cop drama. Prabhas plays a hot-headed IPS officer, and Triptii Dimri is cast as the female lead. The supporting lineup includes Vivek Oberoi, Kanchana and Aishwarya Desai.

The makers are planning a wide language rollout:

  • Telugu
  • Hindi
  • Malayalam
  • Tamil
  • Kannada
  • Japanese
  • Mandarin
  • Korean

The Animal connection

There is also history between the key names. Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Ranbir Kapoor in the 2023 blockbuster Animal, and the two are set to reunite for Animal Park.

Because Diwali 2027 now has both Spirit and Ramayana Part Two, industry watchers are already asking whether one of the two tentpole films may shift again. The Vanga-Ranbir equation adds a personal layer to the calendar clash.

The multilingual plan also matters. If Spirit releases in eight languages, it is not just a regional play, it is designed to take a large slice of the same national and international audience that a film like Ramayana Part Two will chase. That makes the Diwali collision more than a routine calendar clash.

The update also gives a clearer look at the film: the new poster keeps the focus on Prabhas’ bearded, goggle-wearing look. For now, the date is October 29, 2027. Fans get a new poster, a clearer timeline and a much bigger question: can Diwali 2027 hold two giant releases?
