Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 213.65 crore in worldwide gross collections in its first two days, making it the fourth Tamil film of 2026 to enter the Rs 200 crore global club.
Day 2 numbers, market by market
According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film netted Rs 37.10 crore in India on its second day across 13,157 shows. Tamil-language screenings led with Rs 26.60 crore from 7,243 shows, followed by Telugu at Rs 7.25 crore from 1,940 shows and Hindi at Rs 2.90 crore from 3,850 shows. Kannada added Rs 0.35 crore from 124 shows.
After two days, the sequel’s total India net stands at Rs 96.80 crore. Overseas, Jailer 2 grossed Rs 43 crore on Day 2, lifting its international total to Rs 100 crore. Add the Rs 113.65 crore domestic gross and the worldwide figure comes to Rs 213.65 crore.
Fastest to the 200-crore club
The milestone is as much about speed as size. Jailer 2 reached Rs 200 crore worldwide in two days, while the other Tamil releases that crossed the same mark this year took longer.
- Jailer 2: 2 days to Rs 200 crore worldwide
- Jana Nayagan: 4 days
- Karuppa: 8 days
- Vishwanath and Sons: 19 days
That pace is notable because the film arrived with a limited Hindi release and still built momentum through Tamil and Telugu audiences. Four Tamil films crossing Rs 200 crore globally in a single year also points to a strong theatrical cycle for the language.
Why the run matters
The two-day sprint underlines Rajinikanth’s theatrical pull three years after the 2023 original. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the sequel brings back Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik, with S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan joining as pivotal characters. Cameos from Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan, Jackie Shroff, Vijay Sethupathi, Vinayakan and Vasanth Ravi add to the event feel, and Anirudh Ravichander’s score keeps the action moving.
Bollywood Bubble’s four-star review called the film “an entertainer that delivers on its promise of mass action, superstar charisma and theatrical excitement.” For fans tracking the box office, the next global milestones will depend on how strongly the opening-weekend momentum holds.
