Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer has turned positive word of mouth into a steady first week at the domestic box office. According to figures shared by the film’s team, the film has crossed the Rs 30 crore nett milestone in seven days.
The week-one numbers
Released globally on Friday, October 23, Udta Teer held its ground through the working week rather than fading after the opening weekend. The team’s report puts the film’s Wednesday collection at Rs 3 crore gross, or Rs 2.5 crore nett, with Thursday adding Rs 2.65 crore gross, or Rs 2.21 crore nett. That takes the India gross total to Rs 37.05 crore.
- Wednesday: Rs 3 crore gross / Rs 2.5 crore nett
- Thursday: Rs 2.65 crore gross / Rs 2.21 crore nett
- India gross total after week one: Rs 37.05 crore
Crossing Rs 30 crore nett so early is no small thing, especially in a crowded release calendar.
Why the hold matters
The timing makes the number more impressive. Udta Teer arrived in a challenging pre-Diwali period, when theatre footfalls are typically softer, and it had a tight release window. Instead of dropping sharply after the weekend, the film kept weekday collections consistent, a sign that audiences are recommending it to friends.
Bollywood Bubble’s review gave the film 4 stars and said, among other things, that “a spy film doesn’t always need to be serious and filled with over-the-top action.” That lighter, comedy-forward take appears to be working for family and group audiences.
Who is behind Udta Teer
Written and directed by Aakash Kaushik, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Alongside Khurrana and Ali Khan, the cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev and Suhail Nayyar.
What comes next
With no major release scheduled this weekend, Udta Teer has a clear runway. Saturday and Sunday footfalls are likely to spike once more, which could push the film well past its current total. For moviegoers, this is the window to catch the film in cinemas rather than waiting for streaming chatter to build.
