Rohit Shetty, best known for his high-octane action spectacles and the blockbuster Cop Universe, is all set to venture into uncharted territory—horror. Industry insiders reveal that Shetty is backing a new horror film, currently in pre-production, with Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead role.
The yet-untitled project will be helmed by director E Niwas, known for his sharp storytelling and atmospheric tension. “E Niwas brings a gritty lens that will keep the horror raw and unsettling, which is exactly what Rohit wants,” said a source close to the development.
The story reportedly revolves around a woman confronting terrifying supernatural forces linked to a long-buried secret from her past—an emotional and psychological journey that promises both chills and depth.
This marks Shetty’s first foray into the horror genre and a significant shift in tone for both the filmmaker and his production banner. For Nushrratt Bharuccha, who has previously explored the genre in Chhorii, the film could offer another intense and layered performance.
