SS Rajamouli’s next cinematic spectacle, tentatively titled SSMB29, just got even bigger. According to reports, actor R Madhavan is joining the cast of the Rs 1,000 crore project, which already features Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles.
Although the makers haven’t officially confirmed Madhavan’s role, sources claim he’ll be playing a pivotal character crucial to the storyline. The project marks Madhavan’s first-ever collaboration with Rajamouli, who previously helmed blockbusters like Baahubali and RRR.
The film is shaping up to be a global action-adventure with mythological undertones. Inspired by Wilbur Smith’s novels and elements from Indian mythology — particularly the legend of Lord Hanuman — the movie is currently being shot across international locations. Elaborate sets recreating parts of Kashi are also being built in Hyderabad.
SSMB29 began production in January 2025, with significant action scenes already completed in Hyderabad and Odisha. Screenwriting duties are being handled by Rajamouli’s father, veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad, while production is backed by KL Narayana.
While plot details remain under wraps, the film promises a breathtaking blend of adventure, mythology, and visual grandeur — and is set for a worldwide release in 2027.
