Aditya Chopra Bets Big on Romance From 2027

Aditya Chopra is planning Yash Raj Films’ most deliberate romance push in years, with a slate of music-led love stories beginning to arrive in 2027.

The studio has locked Ali Abbas Zafar, Mohit Suri and Maneesh Sharma for separate romantic projects, and a fourth big-ticket romance is in development with a summer 2027 start in mind. None of the films have release dates yet, but the direction is clear: love stories are back at the centre of the YRF calendar.

The slate at a glance

  • Ali Abbas Zafar will direct Ahaan Panday and Sharvari in an intense musical romance set in the gangster world, where love, drama and action share the frame.
  • Mohit Suri is reuniting the Saiyaara pairing of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda for a young, intense college romance.
  • Maneesh Sharma is teaming with Ambrish Varma and Sara Arjun for a rooted romantic saga set in Punjab.

The big-ticket title remains under wraps. Pinkvilla reports it could be a love triangle built around one male actor and two female leads, with filming expected to begin in summer 2027.

Why the timing matters

The push follows the success of Saiyaara, which gives the studio a practical reason to scale romance rather than treat it as a one-off. It also places Ahaan Panday at the centre of two back-to-back love stories, while Sharvari, Aneet Padda and Sara Arjun step into high-visibility lead roles.

The variety is the point: a gangster-world romance, a college love story, a Punjab-set saga and an under-wraps triangle give YRF four different entry points into the same genre. That reduces the risk of the slate feeling repetitive.

Watch the music, not just the trailer

For YRF, this is a return to a lane the studio knows well: large-canvas love stories carried by songs. As Pinkvilla puts it, “Music is the USP” across all these projects, with composition already underway.

That makes the soundtrack the earliest window into the slate. The first song from each film will likely reveal tone, pairing chemistry and scale before the official first look arrives. Keep the three director names in mind: Zafar brings scale and action-romance energy, Suri returns to a pairing that already worked, and Sharma is going rooted and cultural. Each film is a different flavour of romance, but all are built around music.
