Yami Gautam: No Big Cheque for Cameo in ₹1,800 Crore Sequel

Yami Gautam is clearing up a payday rumour that followed one of 2026’s biggest Indian releases. On Kon Honaar Crorepati, she told host Madhuri Dixit that her Dhurandhar: The Revenge cameo did not come with the “big fat cheque” being discussed online. The real payment, she says, was creative.

  • The rumour: Yami was said to have received a large cheque for the cameo.
  • Her answer: Some things are priceless, and being directed by Aditya Dhar was her fee.
  • The backdrop: The sequel has crossed ₹1,800 crore worldwide.

What she said on Kon Honaar Crorepati

In a promo shared on SonyLIV’s Instagram page, Madhuri asked whether Yami was paid for the special appearance or whether Aditya simply requested it. Yami said she had read that she received a very big fat cheque and was surprised. She explained that Aditya asked her to come into the film for good luck and to “steal the frame.”

Her line now being picked up widely: “To get directed by one of the finest directors was my fees.”

The cameo that got everyone talking

Yami appears as Shazia Bano, a nurse who is actually an undercover Indian agent operating in Pakistan. The reveal is part of the fun. Madhuri told Yami that the turn-and-see moment was enjoyable to watch.

The film is the sequel to 2025’s Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and led by Ranveer Singh. The cast includes Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun.

A record-sized backdrop

The big cheque rumour makes sense in context. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the first Indian film to cross ₹1,000 crore at the domestic box office, and it has collected more than ₹1,800 crore worldwide. It has outgrossed KGF: Chapter 2, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and RRR, though it still sits behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal.

When a film is that big, audiences assume everyone involved cashed in. Yami’s reply reframes the cameo as a gesture of partnership, trust and good luck rather than a commercial transaction.

What Yami is doing next

Yami is promoting Nayyi Navelli, a horror comedy directed by Balaji Mohan. Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow Productions, the film stars Yami alongside Adinath Kothare, Mita Vashisht, Sonal Jha and Sunita Rajwar. It releases in theatres on October 16.
