Salman Khan’s old bedroom at Galaxy Apartments was small—just a cupboard and a bed, as Karan Johar remembered it. Karan was surprised by the setup, but on Koffee With Karan Season 9 Salman shared why he never wanted to be in there by himself.
The room with the unseen plus one
Salman recalled that he never stayed alone in that room. “I always stayed there with somebody whom I had never seen, only heard and felt behind me,” he said. According to the actor, the lights flickered every time he walked out, cupboards opened on their own, and the music system would start up without anyone touching it.
In the bathroom, he added, he could feel someone outside “fidgeting with the cupboards.” But Salman was careful not to call the room haunted. “Not haunted but a presence was felt by me,” he explained. He also said it never freaked him out and it did not do anything.
Music for the mystery guest
Rather than avoiding the room, Salman turned the experience into a ritual. He would play music for the presence and then leave. When the family played at the billiards table outside, they could hear movement inside. His one condition? “My only request was if you are a really beautiful woman, then show yourself to me.”
It is a very Salman telling: a little spooky, a little playful, and delivered with a straight face. For fans, the charm is in the detail—lights, cupboards, a music system with a mind of its own—not in any claim that the house was dangerous.
The visit that led to a cameo
The conversation also revisited Karan’s first trip to Galaxy Apartments, when he pitched Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Salman agreed to the cameo after hearing only the first half of the script, then told other filmmakers waiting outside that Karan had written a great second half—without ever hearing it.
The 1998 film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kajol. Salman played Aman, Kajol’s fiancé, after Saif Ali Khan and Chandrachur Singh turned the part down. That detail matters because it places two famous casting decisions side by side: two actors said no, and Salman said yes on half a script.
What’s next for Salman
On the work front, Salman has Maatrubhumi with Chitrangada Singh, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, awaiting a release date. He also has a project backed by Dil Raju, reportedly called Monster, with Nayanthara, scheduled for Eid 2027. For fans, it is another very Salman moment.
