Ranbir Kapoor’s Saturday temple visit became the kind of clip that spreads before an event even ends. Dressed in a red-and-gold kurta with white pyjamas, he was photographed at the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal in Mumbai, seeking the blessings of Goddess Durga and greeting guests. But the moment everyone shared came later, when he stepped on stage with singer Harshdeep Kaur for a rendition of Kabira.
A stage becomes a singalong
Videos from the pandal show Kapoor holding a microphone, singing along as Harshdeep Kaur leads the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani track. At one point he turns the microphone toward the audience, a small gesture that turned a celebrity appearance into a group moment. He also lets the professional handle the tougher sections, which made the performance feel more like a celebration than a carefully staged set.
The 2013 song already carries a lot of emotional weight for fans, and placing it inside a festive setting gave it a fresh reason to travel. Ayan Mukerji, who directed the film, was also present at the pandal, which added to the sense of a small reunion playing out in public.
Why the clip clicked
The response in the comments ran straight to nostalgia. Fans described being hit with memories of the film, called the interaction a “cute moment,” and replied with heart-eye reactions and GIFs from the movie. The footage works because it feels unforced: a star in festive clothing, a familiar voice, and a crowd that knows every line.
What made it travel:
- It mixed a beloved song with a real cultural moment during Navaratri.
- The audience was made part of the act, not just the backdrop.
- Ayan Mukerji’s presence gave fans a reason to treat it as a reunion.
From the pandal to the big screen
Kapoor has not been on screens since Animal and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar in 2023. His next major outing is Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, where he plays Ram alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The first part is scheduled for November 5, timed to Diwali, and the second is planned for Diwali 2027.
He also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, lined up for release in January 2027. A recent first-look reveal has added to the buzz. The Durga Puja clip, then, lands at a useful moment: it keeps Kapoor visible while the promotional cycle for Ramayana begins to gather pace.
