Rakhi Sawant faces non-bailable warrant in 2010 suicide case

Rakhi Sawant is facing a serious legal escalation after a court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, issued a non-bailable warrant against her on Friday. The order comes in a 2010 suicide case that has followed the actor and reality television personality through more than a decade of headlines.

District Government Counsel (Crime) Mridul Kant Srivastava said Civil Judge (Junior Division) Anjali issued the warrant after Rakhi repeatedly failed to appear before the court. The next hearing has been scheduled for December 1.

What a non-bailable warrant means

A non-bailable warrant is not a verdict. It is a method the court uses to compel a person’s presence. It allows police to arrest without first returning to court for separate permission, and the person cannot be released on police bail as a routine step. For a celebrity who is constantly in the public eye, the order signals that missed hearings have consequences.

The 2010 case: Rakhi Ka Insaaf and its fallout

The matter goes back to an episode of Rakhi Ka Insaaf. The television show was built on real-life disputes, with Rakhi presiding over the drama as participants pleaded their cases. According to the prosecution, an October 2010 episode featured Laxman Ahirwar, a resident of Hansari Prem Nagar in Jhansi, and his wife Anita, who came from Rajgarh. The couple had been invited after marital discord; Anita had returned to her parental home after disputes between them.

Laxman’s mother, Savitri, lodged a complaint at Prem Nagar police station, alleging that Rakhi used insulting and objectionable language against her son during the show. Laxman died by suicide on November 10, 2010. The case has moved slowly through the legal system since then.

Why this lands differently now

Rakhi has built a career on being outspoken, and her public image often blurs performance and provocation. This case, however, is not a television segment. The non-bailable warrant shifts the story from paparazzi clips and viral soundbites to legal accountability.

The update also arrives during another Rakhi news cycle. Earlier this month, she commented publicly on Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s marriage, and on rumours around Komal Rani Swarnkar. In that interaction, quoted in the report, she said “Govinda ji, pura desh naaraz hai aapse”, before criticising Komal. Govinda’s manager later denied talk of a second marriage.

The key details to remember

  • The warrant: Issued by a Jhansi civil judge on Friday.
  • The trigger: Rakhi repeatedly failed to appear in court.
  • The original complaint: Filed by Laxman Ahirwar’s mother over remarks on Rakhi Ka Insaaf.
  • The next date: December 1.

Rakhi has not publicly responded to the warrant in the report. The December 1 hearing will reveal whether this becomes another short-lived controversy or a longer legal chapter.
