Drishyam The Conclusion Hits Rs 172 Cr, Third-Biggest Weekend

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion has turned a strong start into one of the biggest opening weekends Indian cinema has seen.

Trade estimates reported by Pinkvilla put the film’s Sunday at about Rs 59 crore nett. That lifts its first three-day India total to roughly Rs 172 crore nett.

The opening-weekend league table

By Pinkvilla’s ranking, that makes it the third-highest opening weekend of all time, behind Dhurandar: The Revenge (Rs 283.50 crore nett) and Jawan (Rs 177.50 crore nett). It also comes in below the Hindi version of Pushpa 2, which netted Rs 180 crore.

The weekend shape matters because Sunday grew rather than slipped:

  • Sunday: approximately Rs 59 crore nett, up 10–15 percent over Saturday.
  • First weekend: approximately Rs 172 crore nett.
  • All-time rank: third-highest opening weekend by the trade’s count.

Where the growth came from

The Sunday jump was led by the Northern, Central and Eastern circuits and Gujarat. These markets had cooled on Saturday after a holiday opening day, then rebounded strongly, with several centres returning close to or above their opening-day figures.

Maharashtra remained the film’s leading market and even moved past its first-day number on Sunday. Pinkvilla notes a pattern: when Ajay Devgn plays a Maratha-rooted character—whether in Singham, Tanhaji or now as Vijay Salgaonkar—Maharashtra tends to over-perform.

Why the Monday number is the one to watch

The current trade call, per Pinkvilla, is BLOCKBUSTER. The scale of that blockbuster now depends on the first working day. A strong Monday hold would signal that the film is not just an event-driven opening but a long-running audience choice.

For celebrity-watchers, the number offers a simple signal: the audience is not just showing up for Ajay Devgn on day one. A Sunday improvement in multiple circuits means the film is generating conversation after release, which is exactly what long-running blockbusters tend to do.

Still, the label is an early trade call, not a final one. The true test is how much it holds today, on a working Monday, before the next holiday period arrives.

For fans and the industry, the question is simple: how much of the Rs 172 crore weekend converts into weekday momentum.
