Tiger Shroff firing: 3 arrested as Bollywood demands safety

Tiger Shroff’s Sunday evening turned from routine to shocking in seconds. The actor was leaving a football club in Mumbai around 7 pm when attackers opened fire on his car from close range. He escaped without serious injury, but Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde later said Tiger had gunpowder burns on his right hand. His driver and a bystander were injured, and police estimate five to six rounds were fired.

Mumbai Police registered a case under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. The scale of the response was immediate: around 20 special teams were formed, and investigators used CCTV and technical evidence to trace the motorcycle allegedly used in the attack to the Andheri West railway station area.

Bollywood demands accountability

The incident has moved beyond a crime report into a wider conversation about safety for public figures. Several actors and filmmakers took to social media and the press to say this cannot be treated as just another threat.

  • Vidyut Jammwal called Tiger “the most fearless person” he knows and told Mumbai Police, “If a lapse like this occurs, then you are the ones at fault.”
  • Ram Gopal Varma called it a “never before seen phenomenon,” writing that for the first time the motive did not appear to be extortion or contract murder, but “vanity and pride.”
  • Rakesh Bedi stressed that shots were actually fired, not just threatened, and urged the government and agencies to restore confidence in the film industry.

Actor-politician Ravi Kishan said he trusted Maharashtra Police to investigate and punish those responsible, while Shatrughan Sinha described the firing as “shocking, worrying.” Ranvir Shorey and Rahul Dholakia were among those demanding strict action, with Dholakia asking bluntly: “Who is answerable?”

Three arrests in Kota

On Monday, Mumbai Police arrested three men accused of targeting Tiger’s car. The accused were identified as Hritik alias Roshan from Begusarai, Bihar; Rehan from Sonipat, Haryana; and a third associate. They were taken from the general coach of the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express when it reached Kota railway station at 10:17 am, according to Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam.

Mumbai Crime Branch DCP Raj Tilak Roshan said the suspects had headed toward northern Mumbai after the shooting and then left for Surat before boarding the train. Kota Police were alerted and carried out the arrests. Investigators have not ruled out further arrests.

A possible gang link and a shifting security picture

Police are probing whether the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved. A social media post by a person named Anil Pandit, possibly from the gang, claimed responsibility, but police said its authenticity is still being verified. The Mumbai Crime Branch said Rehan was in touch with Pandit, and DCP Roshan called the claim “a subject matter of verification for us.”

Authorities also clarified that none of the accused was a minor: one is 18 and the other two are 22. Police denied reports that Tiger had received prior threat calls, saying there is no such information on record. His security is being handled according to standard procedures, keeping his threat perception and court orders in mind.

For Bollywood watchers, this is one of those nights when the glamour of celebrity life runs into the hard reality of public risk. The arrest speed shows strong coordination between Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan Police teams. The larger questions — who ordered the shooting and whether security around stars needs to change — will take longer to answer.
