Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is proving that a Hindi run can gather heat even when the biggest multiplex chains are not in the picture. Pinkvilla trade estimates put the Hindi version’s four-day total at Rs 15.65 crore nett, with collections rising after a flat Saturday.
The first four days, number by number
The film opened at Rs 3.15 crore nett, dipped slightly to Rs 3 crore on Saturday, then picked up pace with Rs 4.25 crore on the third day and Rs 5.25 crore on Sunday. The upward move is the important part: audiences are adding to the film as word of mouth spreads.
- Friday: Rs 3.15 crore nett
- Saturday: Rs 3 crore nett
- Day 3: Rs 4.25 crore nett
- Sunday: Rs 5.25 crore nett
More than double the original
The context makes the start stronger. The first Jailer collected around Rs 7.5 crore nett in its entire Hindi lifetime. The sequel has crossed that mark twice over within four days. For a Tamil-led mass entertainer, that is a clear sign of Rajinikanth’s continuing pull in the Hindi market.
Why the non-national release matters
Jailer 2 is not playing in national chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis. That limitation usually caps a film’s reach and opening-day pace. Instead, the film has relied on independent and single-screen cinemas, and still delivered a weekend total that outranks its predecessor’s full run. The result points to strong demand in mass centres rather than a multiplex-only hit.
The story behind the ticket window
The film continues the Jailer story three months after the original. Muthuvel Pandian is living a quiet family life while secretly working against a dangerous idol-trade network run by the Kalpak family. When his cover is blown, he has to protect the people close to him and take down the network. That action promise is giving the Hindi version a clear hook in single-screen markets.
What to watch next
The real test is the first weekday. If Monday holds near the Sunday level, the film could build a longer run and strengthen the case for single-screen-first release strategies. For now, Jailer 2 has turned limited screen access into a box-office headline.
