Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has released a new behind-the-scenes promo, and the biggest talking point is not just the film’s scale—it is Sai Pallavi’s Sita in full warrior mode. The Diwali release is being promoted with footage that makes it clear the adaptation wants action and spectacle, not a quiet retelling.
What the new glimpse shows
The video places Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram on a mountain at sunrise, then moves through some of the film’s most ambitious imagery. Yash’s Ravana performs the tandav before a large Shiva statue, Jatayu appears in full form, and Kunal Kapoor shows up briefly as Indra carrying the thunderbolt Vajra. The moment that has caught attention is Sai Pallavi’s Sita battling demons, a visual that gives her character a more active role than many screen adaptations have offered.
In the sit-down, Ranbir says the film deserves to be seen “in the best way possible,” while producer Namit Malhotra calls the project “a life-sized epic.” Director Nitesh Tiwari points to the emotional range: a father-son story, an underdog story and what he describes as a brave love story that can connect with people around the world.
The scale behind the footage
Malhotra puts a number to that ambition. More than 10,000 people are working on the film worldwide, across the cast, crew and technical teams. “Some films don’t get made, they happen,” he says in the promo.
That number sits alongside other big details: the film is reported to be made on a budget of ₹4,000 crore, with music by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. The first part arrives in cinemas on November 5, 2026, and the second part is planned for Diwali 2027.
Why the warrior Sita shot matters
A brief action beat may seem like a small thing, but in a mythological retelling it sets the tone. Audiences will read it as a signal that Sita is not simply defined by her capture or her patience; she has agency on the battlefield too. For a project of this size, that creative choice also changes how the film is marketed—less as a devotional costume drama and more as a global fantasy event.
Historically, the Ramayana has been told many times on screen, and each adaptation picks a different emphasis. Here the team appears to be leaning into combat and spectacle, with Sita at the centre of the action, and that gives the film a distinct point of view before release.
Before the release, the best way to judge the tone is to watch the new promo yourself. It brings the main players together and gives a clearer sense of what the team is building.
