Two industries, one big-screen event
Dhanush and Mammootty are set to share the screen in OM: Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, a film that brings Tamil and Malayalam cinema’s most recognisable leading men under one title. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and backed by RTake Studios and Wunderbar Films, the project is being talked about as a large-scale theatrical experience that crosses language barriers.
The supporting ensemble is a statement in itself. Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah and Indrans join the two leads, with Sai Abhyankkar scoring the music. It is a line-up that spans industries, generations and audience loyalties.
The producer’s bet
At the centre of the collaboration is Shraddha Agrawal, founder of RTake Studios. Her pitch is simple: use two extraordinary artists to create a film that feels bigger than any one market. She said, “Bringing Dhanush sir and Mammootty sir together for OM: Chapter 1 is a proud and incredibly special moment for RTake Studios.” The team wants audiences to experience the scale and emotion in theatres, not on a small screen.
Production credits add more names: Dhanush and Azmat Jagmag produce, Sreyas Srinivasan and Sandesh Agrawal are co-producers, and Vishu Ramaswamy is creative producer. RTake Studios presents the film under the Wunderbar Films banner.
Why this pairing matters
Cross-industry casting has become one of the most visible levers for widening a release. Putting a Tamil star and a Malayalam star together gives the film two built-in fan bases, two content ecosystems and a stronger case for national coverage.
