Vijay Deverakonda is drawing a clear line on ticket prices ahead of Ranabaali, the period action drama that opens on October 16, 2026. Speaking at a pre-release event, the actor told fans that his films will no longer carry ticket-price hikes—provided the decision stays in his hands.
The promise and the one carve-out
The actor made the pledge directly from the stage. “There won’t be any ticket hikes for my films from now on, as long as it’s within my control. The only exception would be if I work with SS Rajamouli garu,” he said, as reported by Pinkvilla.
That exception matters. In Telugu cinema, ticket pricing is a regular flashpoint: producers, distributors and theatre owners often negotiate last-minute increases, and fan groups can be quick to push back when prices jump. By announcing a no-hike stance now, Deverakonda sets expectations before his next releases and positions himself as fan-first. The Rajamouli clause also signals how he sees that scale of project—worth a different pricing conversation entirely.
For fans, that removes a familiar last-minute worry: walking up to a counter and discovering that a big release has quietly become more expensive.
Ranabaali: what to expect
Set in 19th-century South India, Ranabaali follows a warrior who rises against colonial oppression after his community is pushed into hunger and exploitation. Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife, and The Mummy actor Arnold Vosloo appears as the principal antagonist, Sir Theodore Hector.
At the same event, Deverakonda also addressed the film’s treatment of violence. He said the makers deliberately toned down sequences compared with the actual atrocities, and that the intention was to show reality rather than glorify violence. He asked audiences not to compare Ranabaali with a few recent films that, in his view, glorified violence.
What is next for Vijay Deverakonda
- Rowdy Janardhana: an action drama directed by Ravi Kiran Kola and co-starring Keerthy Suresh. It was initially scheduled for December 2026, though an updated release plan is yet to be announced.
- VDxShouryuv: a romantic action drama with Hi Nanna director Shouryuv, with music by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
The no-hike promise will first be tested with Ranabaali, and then across these upcoming titles. It is a small commitment in an industry where pricing decisions can change daily, but it is one audiences are likely to remember.
