Veteran actor Nana Patekar died early this morning in Goa after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 75.
Reports say he was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula and taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted revival for around 45 minutes. He was declared dead at about 5:20 am.
Tanushree Dutta sends condolences, asks for space to work
Within hours, Tanushree Dutta — who accused the actor during India’s 2018 Me Too movement — posted a video on her Instagram Stories. She did not name Nana Patekar directly, but said she had heard the news and sent “condolences to the family.”
Dutta said the day was a major workday for her, with an event in Lucknow, and that she wanted to focus on it. “I wanted to do all these Lives and post content,” she said, adding that she would share a fuller reaction later.
The clip cut off as she was explaining that the evening’s coverage would probably focus on his death rather than her work.
The 2018 Me Too allegation, revisited
Dutta’s response brings a difficult chapter back into public view. During the Me Too wave in 2018, she alleged that Nana Patekar harassed her on the set of the 2009 film Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. She said she had filed a complaint with CINTAA in 2008, but no action was taken.
The actor denied the allegations. An FIR was registered, but the case was closed in 2019 for lack of sufficient evidence. In 2025, a Mumbai Andheri Magistrate Court dismissed the criminal proceedings, saying the complaint was filed beyond the legal limitation period.

Final rites and a long screen legacy
Nana Patekar’s last rites will be held this evening at his ancestral farmhouse in Donje, Pune, with full state honours. His body will be kept at the property for a brief period so family, friends, film industry colleagues and local villagers can pay their respects.
The National Award-winning actor was known for roles in Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome, Apaharan, Taxi No 9211 and Raajneeti. He was last seen on the big screen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2026 film O’ Romeo, and also featured in the socio-political series Sankalp and made a cameo in Subedaar.
