Sivakarthikeyan has drawn a clear line for his next phase as a leading Tamil star. At a recent fan meet, he said he will only choose mass entertainers from now on, signalling a deliberate move towards cinema built for wide, festive audiences rather than niche or experimental storytelling.
A direct promise to the audience
SK did not leave the plan open to interpretation. The actor told fans, “Hereafter I will only do mass entertainers. Full entertainment.” The comment matters because it follows Parasakthi, which received an underwhelming response, and it resets expectations for the two films already on his slate.
He also passed the credit forward. Sivakarthikeyan said both upcoming films would match what audiences expect, calling it a guarantee from his two directors, Sivakumar Murugesan and Ramkumar, rather than his own promise.
A genre built for the widest audience
A mass entertainer in Tamil cinema is usually assembled around hero moments, high-energy action, songs and emotional highs that play well with family audiences. SK’s “full entertainment” line suggests he is prioritising that format over grittier material, giving his fan base a clear signal about what to expect.
Seyon: 60 percent done
Work on Seyon, his immediate next release, is moving fast. Sivakarthikeyan revealed that roughly 60 percent of the film is complete. Songs and several other portions are wrapped, while some major action sequences are still to be shot. That leaves enough time to polish the film before its festival window.
Seyon is directed by Sivakumar Murugesan and produced by Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran’s Raaj Kamal Films International in association with Turmeric Media. The action drama is expected to arrive during Pongal 2027, with Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead and Raj B. Shetty in a key role.
SK27 is already rolling
The actor has also begun SK27, currently a tentative title, with Parking director Ramkumar Balakrishnan. The project went on floors with a pooja ceremony, and Sivakarthikeyan has already shot the opening action sequence; he is currently filming a song.
Kayadu Lohar is playing the female lead, with Sudhakar and George Maryan in key roles. Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music.
